Young Leaders Summit: With Love, With Pride
Our Young Leader Summits are designed to educate and empower young people to be leaders within their local communities on prevalent political and social justice issues; they equip young people with the knowledge and power to become change-makers in their communities and to be able to contribute meaningfully and insightfully to current political discourse. These one-day events are created to provide educational opportunities around important issues identified by young people.
Our September Young Leaders Summit focuses on the LGBTQIA+ community. This day summit will provide a number of workshops and discussions that dive deep into the history and struggles of the LGBTQIA+ community over time (such as the Stonewall Riots), the significance of labels, and historical strategies for the advancement of LGBTQIA+ rights. This Young Leaders Summit will take an international and intersectional approach to explore how the rights and experiences of LGBTQIA+ people differ around the world.
This Summit will conclude with an Interactive Problem Solving Activity that will put students into the shoes of key community groups and decision makers to examine queer-decision making at the grassroots and corporate level.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the history of the LGBTQIA+ community, gain insight into the challenges the LGBTQIA+ community has overcome and discover how you can contribute to making a difference in the fight for equal rights and acceptance of all people, no matter who they are, how they identify or who they love!
